Born in Chicago in the 1900s, i was lucky enough to need to rely on my personality to get people to like me. Using humor as a defense mechanism, i became a theater nerd, soccer player, dancer and musician (ish).
after many years INTEGRATING THE GANGS OF CHICAGO, my high school years took me to texas. AFTER GRADUATION I YEE HAWED MY WAY OUT OF THERE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF colorado- loved it so much i stayed for 7 years (NOT AS A STUDENT, I’M NO VAN WILDER).

I started my career as a reception at Crispin, Porter & Bogusky. WORKING MY WAY UP THROUGH HR, I WOULD WRITE COMPANY EMAILS TO TELL MY COWORKERS WHAT WAS GOING ON AROUND THE OFFICE. ONE DAY, SOMEONE LEFT THEIR TRUNK OPEN. INSTEAD OF ASKING WHO LEFT IT OPEN I TURNED THIS HAPPENING INTO AN OPPORTUNITY.

THE HEAD OF SOCIAL THOUGHT I WAS FUNNY AND SAID I SHOULD BE A COPYWRITER. SO WHEN HE MOVED TO NEW YORK TO BE THE CCO OF NORTH AMERICA AT JWT, I CALLED HIM AND ASKED IF HE’D HIRE ME. HE SAID “YES.”
A MONTH LATER I WAS COUCH-SURFING IN NEW YORK for 6 years, los angeles for a year and a half, and then found myself longing for home (chicago).
